Why You Might Need a Personal Acne Diet
An acne diet is a very interesting idea. Most importantly, who hasn’t heard that eating chocolate gives you zits? We almost all have. As a result, it does not seem so far-fetched that what you eat could prevent acne instead of cause it.
Although creating a good acne diet can be very hard. This type of diet is highly personal since is is based on each individual’s response to foods. Progress, for the most part, will be trial and error. Observe and make note of any changes in your skin. Make note of any changes. You might even want to take pictures using a digital camera once or twice a week. If and when your acne diminishes stick to the diet plan you are on at the time.
Here are a few instructions to help get you started on an acne diet:
* You need to increase your protein - Some dermatologists even believe that protein intake is connected to having clear skin. This is because protein contains an enzyme that limits the production of oil. If you have oily skin, you know that it is very vulnerable to breakouts.
* Keep away from carbohydrates - Do not take all carbs out of your diet. But you should keep them limited to about 40 percent of your diet. Carbohydrates contain compounds that stimulate oil production. This is why so many people think that junk food causes acne. Actually it is just that junk food is high in carbs.
* Consume green tea - If at all possible try to drink the real stuff. The best type of green tea is the kind you brew at home. But, if you really don’t like it, the natural green tea drinks will work. Green tea will limit the creation of androgen. Breakouts have been known to be caused by a hormone called androgen.
* Limit your total intake of salt - Most salt contains iodine. This is why table salt is usually called “iodized salt.” For some with acne, iodine an cause major inflammation.
In addition to watching your diet, you should carefully watch what you put on your face. If you have acne you are probably already more aware than most people of the ingredients in your beauty products. You should only use moisturizers without oil and natural and organic skin care products. These products will least likely cause you to breakout. Mineral makeups are a good investment, if you wear makeup. Many dermatologists believe that mineral makeup can actually alleviate acne problems and enhance the results of your acne diet.
