The fixed ladder is the most plain of these and has no moving parts. Extension ladders are often composed to two ladders where one can retract into the other for easy storage. Step ladders are always joined by a hinge at the top of its inverted V form. A platform step ladder has a platform at the top. Roof ladders come with hooks that set them firmly hooked on the roof.
