The Bad Wrap Of Fat
Fat has been given a bad reputation. In actuality, fats don’t really make you fat, excess carbohydrates make you fat!Do you understand what this means? It means that
eating “low fat” labeled foods will still pack weight on you just the same as the regular version of that food.I understand that this is a hard concept to grasp because our society bases weight loss on a lower amount of calories.Reducing your caloric intake is only a small piece of the weight loss puzzle. This is why a natural detox and weight loss program is the best option. These type of diets do not rely solely on decreasing your caloric intake.
Consuming low fat diet foods is not good for you. Fat helps to slow the blood sugar response in your body when you eat and this stops weight gain. Most fat free or low fat diet foods are packed full of artificial sweetners such as aspartame, splenda,etc.. Your body has no clue what to do with these and they can cause hunger cravings. The body will take these toxins and store them in fat cells making it even harder to lose weight.Numerous health conditions, signs and symptoms can be caused by using artificial sweeteners including neurological and degenerative diseases.
Our body uses fats for a variety of functions. The brain is primarily made of fat. There is a fat layer that surrounds your nerves called myelin and if you start to lose it, neurodegenerative diseases such as Multiple Sclerosis will occur.
The cells need fats for healthy function because they help keep the cell membrane fluid so that nutrients and wastes can pass in and out of the cell.
Finally, your glands need fats for balanced hormone production.
Why we need fats:
- Insulate and give your organs padding for protection.
- Holds and moves fat-soluble vitamins (A,D,E,K) throught the body.
- aids in helping the body to absorb minerals. (Low fat diets cause osteoporosis because of poor mineral absorption.
- causes fat mobilization ( that’s right, you eat fat to lose fat!)
- controls your blood sugar by slowing the absorption rate of carbs
- Fat is a bigger molecule therefore when consumed, it reduces your hunger signals making you feel more full.
Always be sure that you eat a healthy source of fats and not unhealthy fats such as transfat, saturated fats, etc.
Good Fats:
- Omega 3 fats are found in cold water fish such as sardines, salmon, tuna, and krill.
- Other sources include naturally raised grass and vegetable fed animals, almonds, walnuts, avocados, pumpkin seeds, extra virgin olive oil, coconut and coconut oil.
Consuming healthy fats are a key component in any natural weight loss detox program or any diet program for that matter. Be sure that you add it to your diet today.
