MT For My Chidren’s Future
A Nurse by profession working here in U.A.E. for more than ten years made me think that I need to do something for my children’s future. I was brought up in a poor family back in the Philippines. I graduated batch 1990 with all my effort to finish my study. My father is a taxi driver and my mother is a plain housewife, since they do not have proper education my parent struggle for us to at least give education that they did not gain. Back when I was a student, I remember that I and my siblings will go to school without transport fare going back home. After my father will have two or three passengers, he will come to our school to give us fare going back home. I finished nursing without books because we were 3 in college our parents cannot give us money to buy our books, it is very hard. But I understand them; in fact these give me more motivation to finish my education. After my college, all that I dreamed for is to help my family and to see to it that my siblings will finish their school with books.
Initially I work in a small hospital near in our place just to get experience, after two years I worked abroad (Libya) for only two years. Being first timer, I got culture shocked working in middle east but thanks God I was able to finished my contract because I know that my brother and sister badly needs my help. Going back in the Philippines, my siblings finished their college and got a job of their own. I was able to save a small amount of money, so I started a business which is a small convenient store. After a year I got employed in U.A.E. to work as a staff nurse in a government hospital. Life here was so simple and easy, year 2000 I got married and 2001 I got my first born child. Beginning of 2005 started many changes, our hospital become semi-private and many hospital rules and policy changed. SN:0MA9N2ESY
Life here became costly, slowly the money we saved in the bank was all consumed and now I realized that I need to do something because my children are growing up. I got scared because I don’t want to let my children suffer what I experience when I was small child, which even a single toy my parents cannot buy because we don’t have money. Here in U.A.E., it is not allowed to have another employment with another company and it is prohibited by law. So, even I will have extra time I cannot find extra job to earn more. One day while checking my email by chance I open a site about medical transcription at home jobs, I got interested and I tried to inquire some friends about the medical transcription at home course in which they said that this can be home based if I want to earn. This is the reason why I want to become an MT someday.
