Love – It Does Not Bring World Peace Nor Does It End A War But It Can Be What Makes Life Worth Living
This could be why for centuries people have been dedicating an entire day to romance..
Every year on February 14th millions of people all over the world spend billions of dollars to show their loved ones how much they care.
Thousands show their love with roses, hearts, chocolate, teddy bears, and sexy lingerie.
In countries across the globe lounges, bars, parks and restaurants are filled with couples celebrating love on February 14th.
With all the love floating through the air and the euphoria of being in love, many people don’t realize why they celebrate Valentines Day and what events in history transpired in order to bring us this fateful day of love on February 14th.
As the story goes, all woman can thank a man for a day of love – St. Valentine, we can thank him for the chocolate, stuffed animals, roses and expensive dinners.
St. Valentine was a Roman who was executed on February 14th 269 A.D.
He was sentenced to death for love. .
St. Valentine lived during the 3rd Century under a vicious king.
The ruler asked vast armies of men to abandon their loved ones for long periods of time, causing the men to become depressed and not fight to the ruler’s standards. .
The ruler eventually banned marriage all together.
Valentine, a hopeless romantic, did not agree. .
He fought the ban and continued to marry lovers in private – how scandalous!
The king caught St. Valentine and sentenced him to death. .
As the story goes, the couples St.
Valentine married in secret would visit him in jail and bring him flowers and love notes.
Making matters even worse, St. Valentine fell in love with his jailer’s daughter and on the day he was sentenced to death he wrote her a love letter and signed it, “from your Valentine”.
” Talk about a love story!
That one really pulls at the heart strings..
So, on the day of love remember what St.
Valentine died to show his faith in love..
