How To Dress For The Formal
Understanding how to dress for your formal isn’t as complicated as you may believe. The fact is that, the majority of formal attendees are young and do not have a very good amount of experience wearing formal attire. This makes things a little tricky, because not only do you have to figure out what you need to put on, but you also need to figure out what looks good on you. In this article I’ll go over some of the things that one should consider when dressing for a formal.
To begin with, you need to know that you do not need to spend lots of money on your clothing. You’ll probably outgrow whatever you buy in a few years anyway so it doesn’t make sense to spend thousands of dollars on a fancy suit. You won’t see too many people at a formal wearing Armani suits.
If your formal calls for a tuxedo, you won’t have much choice in what to wear. Black and midnight blue are really the only colors you should be wearing. Accessories that need to be worn are black shoes, a vest, a vest, and a good bow tie.
The tuxedo jacket should have either two or three buttons and can be peaked, notched, or shawl. Ask the salesman to see these three collar styles and choose the one you like best.
If you get to wear a suit to your formal, you will have many more options to choose from. The most formal suit is the black suit, but you could wear navy, charcoal gray, or even chocolate brown. I’d avoid the white suit unless you want to make a scene.
Get a set of burgundy shoes or black shoes and a belt to match. A dress shirt and a nice tie will also be needed. Try and see what a red tie and a white shirt looks like with the ensemble.
Just remember that the main focus of the formal is to have fun with the people you enjoy spending time with. Get yourself a nice outfit to wear, but do not worry your self sick about it.
