Fashion Won’t Make You Good At Sports – That Takes Practice!

Ask any serious sportsman and he’ll tell you the same thing – they hate posers. Yeah, sure, they like to wear the fashions that identify them as being into a particular sport, but they don’t get obsessed about it. There’s something really wrong with people who do.

Different niche sports have their own brands and styles they like to wear. A brown boot is just a brown colored boot unless it has a brand name and style that distinguishes it as a ski boot or a football boot. Savvy footwear companies make casual shoes as wear as footwear for athletes because they know that a snowboarder, for instance, will want to wear their brand on and off the slopes.

Surfers and other water lovers all wear underwater watches when they’re doing what they love to do. Naturally, they will get a sturdy underwater watch and not a stylish leather watch to wear when they are in the water. They need something that works, not something that just looks good!

Surfers like to wear a men’s sport watch from a surfing label, but they don’t think they need to have an extra watch to wear outside of the water. They tend to snub others who have a surfing brand of watch that is useless in the water but looks great on land. They call them posers and judge them pretty harshly. It might not be nice, but if you want to be accepted as a surfer, keep it in mind!

There is a deeper issue behind the surfers’ prejudice against going overboard with fashion. Surfers, real surfers anyway, don’t feel like they need to show off to the world that they are surfers. It’s part of their being. That’s why others look up to them and try to emulate them.

They’re missing the point though, You’ve got to earn your stripes to be considered a real surfer. You’ve got to put in the hours needed to learn the maneuvers and get to the level of fitness that surfing requires. When a surfer sees a guy who clearly has not done that trying to fit in just because he mimics what they wear, they don’t like it and they let him know it!

Fashion is nice, but skill is all important. Go ahead and buy those trendy watches and shoes, but stay away from the slopes or the waves if you don’t want to tackle them head-on!
